RAMMA - KUMIKO wall/ceiling lamp
RAMMA 欄間
KUMIKO 組子 WALL / CEILING LAMP
Moody wooden wall/ceiling lamps with kumiko elements!
Ramma 欄間 is a traditional architectural element of a Japanese house, the part between the ceiling and the doorway. Ramma is used to illuminate the room from the outside and exchange air, and at the same time decorates the space. Ramma is made of wood in various techniques, including the kumiko technique. Unfortunately, in modern homes, this element is less and less common. Our Ramma lamp was created with nostalgia for this beautiful traditional architecture.
Through its naturalness and perfection of hand-made, the Ramma lamp will give the interior an unusual, warm atmosphere and a unique lighting effect.

About Kumiko 組子
It is a Japanese craft technique known since the 7th century, consisting in arranging geometric patterns from single wooden slats without nails.
Traditionally, Kumiko has been used to create architectural elements such as balustrades and sliding doors.
There are over 200 different patterns and each has a nature-related name as they are based on simplistic themes of nature’s elements.
